Adoption and Infant Foster Care

 

Service:  As a fully licensed Child Placing Agency, Catholic Charities provides a comprehensive array of services including pregnancy support services, home studies, placement services, and infant foster care. Catholic Charities can help parents adopt in a variety of ways, including:

• Independent Adoption – connection between birth parent and adoptive parent is arranged other than through an adoption agency.
• Agency (Domestic) Adoption – where birth parent and adoptive parents are connected through Catholic Charities.
• Relative Adoption - adoption of a child by a family member.
• Step-Parent Adoption – adoption of a child by a step-parent.
• Interstate/Intrastate Adoption – adopting a child from Wisconsin or another state. Special State rules apply.
• Special Needs Adoption – adoption of a child born with medical issues or is at risk for developing medical, developmental or behavioral issues. Other State characteristics qualify a child as special needs.

Clients Served: Adoption is a lifelong process that involves the needs and interests of three sets of people: the child, the birth parents and the adoptive parents.

Fees for Services:  Orientation sessions are provided without charge. Adoption fees vary based on services completed for each specific situation.
