Catholic School-Based Counseling Services

 

Service:  Individual counseling and support to students to explore and resolve emotional and/or behavioral issues that interfere with the student's ability to achieve academically or socially.

Essential Functions of a School-Based Counselor:

  • Provide individual counseling for students referred by school staff, parents or self-referral, with the informed consent of the parent/guardian.
  • Present social skill development activities in the classroom, including personal safety lessons as part of "Safeguarding God's Children."
  • Provide small group counseling opportunities as needed.
  • Assist school staff in identification and early evaluation process to meet exceptional educational needs of specific students.
  • Collaborate with school staff, family members, and community resources to create a plan to promote academic and/or social success for identified students.
  • Provide consultation support services for school faculty to address concerns regarding classroom behavior or attitudes.

Clients Served:  The School-Based Counselors serves students and families in Catholic schools in the Archdiocese who have contracted Catholic Charities.

Fees for Services: 
Services provided to students and their families at no charge. 

Service Area:  Available throughout the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and currently offered at the following Catholic schools:

  • St. Katherine Drexel, Beaver Dam
  • Christ Child Academy, Sheboygan
  • Holy Family, Sheboygan
  • St. Dominic, Sheboygan
  • St. Mary, Sheboygan Falls
